Welcome, and thank you for visiting Ellie Counselling.
My name is Ellie Elliott-King and I am a counsellor providing both short- and long-term therapy to adult individuals online and in the Northampton area.
My counselling journey started when I experienced another life event that seemed bigger and so difficult to cope with, my resilience was non existent. It proved to be a major life changing event in many ways leading me to seek to qualify as a counsellor and make sense of who I was and understand my world in order to help others. Because of this I remain hungry for theoretical knowledge, approaches and interested in new research. To support my training and development I've worked in mental health crisis intervention for a mental health charity together with the NHS. My heart lies within person centred therapy where I believe my clients hold the answers to their concerns and fears and it's up to me to create the conditions and relationship of trust and respect to help self discovery and acceptance of what is known or often, not known.
Counselling takes place in a safe space, where you can meet with someone who will listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.
Trouble with a relationship; anxiety or panic attacks; mood swings or depression - many people face difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Counselling gives us an understanding of ourself and reflection helps gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems - and how you can move towards managing, resolving or accepting them.
Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.
As a counsellor I offer a safe, empathic and compassionate space where you can be both seen and heard. I commit to learning and understanding your world and witnessing the issues you face, be it a difficult past history, relationship issues or your day to day concerns that just don't feel right or struggles about your 'self' or the world around you.
I will accept you for who you are in your entirety, provide emotional support through your sessions, to aid healing, change or to just be where you need to be. No judgements, just unconditional acceptance. In doing this we will work together towards self acceptance and personal growth.
Being human means we are faced with choices all the time, some big and some seemingly small. How to react, how to feel, how to behave and what to do. Reflection can give us new understanding and perspectives.
I offer a relationship where you will be really heard which will help you reflect, heal the hurts, conflicts, betrayals and injustices from being human. Liberating acceptance, healing, and change.
People from all kinds of backgrounds come to me for help with a wide range of issues, concerns and fears. I am a qualified and insured therapeutic counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within their Ethical Framework, guidelines and good practice.
